On National Night Out, August 5th, the Fire Department responded to a couple of car fires and a UPS truck on fire. In the case of the UPS truck the first responding EPFD vehicle was our Airport Crash Rescue truck. This truck is the go anywhere vehicle we have primarily for emergencies at our airport. In this case, however, the truck was on the way to an Eden Prairie Night Out Event when the call came in for the a truck fire on the highway.
Our truck and crew were in the area and got there first. Unlike our typical structural firefighting truck this one can pump water (and foam if needed) while in motion, a feature that comes in handy at aircraft emergencies but in this case worked out well for this truck fire.
MnDOT cameras caught the action and I have posted it here, it is impressive to watch that vehicle in action.
