Fire Prevention Week

Often, most of us think of “Fire Prevention Week” as something for school children. While it is true that a lot of the focus for fire prevention efforts is on kids, at Eden Prairie Fire we also make a strong effort to get the message out to adults as well. With our adult students we are able to provide some hands-on training that we cannot do with the school aged kids. One such example of adult training took place today with the folks at SouthWest Transit. We have a very close relationship with SouthWest Transit and do projects with them frequently. On a side note, SouthWest Transit was recently named the Minnesota Transit System of the Year. This is the second time they have been honored with the award in the past ten years. Truly, they are a first class organization!

Pictured below is a bus driver getting instruction on the proper use of a fire extinguisher for battling smaller fires. This training is highly valuable since almost all fires start small. Quick action with a fire extinguisher can mean saving property before a fire grows out of control.
