Each year the EPPD’s Labor Management Team solicits nominations from its officers and selects an Officer of the Year. The award is given to the officer who “has shown exemplary performance within their primary assignment and dedicated commitment in service to the community.” This year’s recipient is Detective Jim Lindgren.
Detective Lindgren began his career in Eden Prairie in 1982 and since that time has worked as a Community Service Officer, School Liaison Officer and Field Training Officer before becoming an Investigator in 1992. Â Â
In his nomination, Detective Lindgren was described as professional, positive and helpful. His work ethic and the way he conducts himself has been appreciated by people both inside and outside the police department.
Within the department, Detective Lindgren has willingly gone out of his way to help new investigators in the division. He makes time in his busy schedule to explain the proper procedures, answer questions and provide advice on cases. Detective Lindgren is also known for putting aside his own work to help a colleague with an investigation. His follow-up and attention to detail demonstrate his commitment to going the extra mile to ensure cases are investigated properly and thoroughly.
He has also been praised by victims and outside law enforcement agencies. In particular, Detective Lindgren has been noted for his positive and reassuring attitude, his patience and understanding and the timely and professional manner in which he works. He treats victims with dignity, respect and sensitivity. In addition, his skillful handling of interviews allows him to successfully gather information from suspects.
The Department congratulates Detective Lindgren on this accomplishment.
