This week the EPPD’s Lt. Greg Weber became a certified Emergency Manager through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. To achieve this certification Lt. Weber had to complete 112 hours of in-person classroom hours and 144 hours of on-line instruction in a variety of subjects including, but not limited to: Debris Management, Mass Fatalities Incident Response, Developing and Managing Volunteers and Donations Management. While Lt. Weber has been serving as the police coordinator for Emergency Management during the past two years, this certification formalizes his role and credentials.
In Eden Prairie, Emergency Management responsibilities fall under the umbrella of the Eden Prairie Fire Department. Lt. Weber will work closely with Eden Prairie Fire Chief George Esbensen, the City’s Emergency Management Director. Lt. Weber hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the Emergency Management process and will bring a police perspective to the city’s Emergency Operations Plan.  The city’s Public Works Department has staff who contribute to the plan as well. Â
Congratulations Lt. Weber!
