Solving a crime with the Crime Tech Unit
Despite a forecast calling for rain, the Citywide Open House will take place this Saturday, October 13 from 11 – 2 at City Center (8080 Mitchell Road) as planned. Displays, booths and entertainment will be moved inside in the event of rain. In fact, if it is raining, with all the activities we have to offer, the Open House is the perfect place to be!
In the Police Department we will have tours of the jail, booking photos for kids, a mock crime scene set up by our Crime Tech Unit, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, SWAT team weapons and equipment to try out, squad cars to climb in and our 911 Dispatch Center will be available for viewing.
At Fire Station 1, there will be more than 20 fire demonstrations, Fire Department trucks to explore and hot dogs and root beer to enjoy. There will also be an opportunity to try out your firefighting skills.
Inside City Center there will be face painting, a pickleball exhibition, Zumba instruction class, Kidcreate Studio art activities, a pottery wheel demonstration and animals from the Outdoor Center. In addition you can have your photo taken in the Mayor’s chair in the Council Chambers, enjoy live entertainment while eating free snacks and learn all about how the City of Eden Prairie serves you.
