Last Saturday members of the Eden Prairie Reserve Unit and their families cleaned up a section of Hwy. 5 between Eden Prairie Road and Mitchell Road, just as they have done every year since 1990, which is the year they adopted this stretch of highway. They collected 26 bags of trash and several miscellaneous large pieces of trash.
The EPPD is fortunate to work with this group of committed volunteers who assist our sworn officers by performing community service tasks and non-criminal police functions. Reserve officers also assist in natural disasters and other emergencies that require additional personnel.
In 2016, the Reserve Unit put in 4,102 volunteer hours, which is the equivalent of two full-time employees. We are grateful to the Reserves for all of the work they do to keep our community safe (and clean)!
