“Tip a Cop” for Special Olympics

This Saturday EPPD officers will join other law enforcement officers from around the state and Special Olympics athletes for a Special Olympics Minnesota fundraiser called “Tip a Cop.” The event is Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. at the Red Robin in Bloomington (2300 W 80th ½ Street).

Last year during the eight hours officers and athletes were at the restaurant, they raised $2,139. Tip a Cop also took place at four other Red Robin restaurants in Minnesota in 2016. The total amount raised for the five locations in one day was more than $15,000.

Law enforcement agencies have a close relationship with the Special Olympics. The EPPD helps out with a number of annual Special Olympics fundraising events, including the Polar Plunge and Law Enforcement Torch Run. Law enforcement officers are considered to be the guardians of the “Flame of Hope” which is lit during the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics games each summer.

Come on out and help support this important cause!
