The Donut Boy

Lt. Dave Becker, Tyler “The Donut Boy” Carach and Officer Leslie Perez

Last week EPPD Lt. Dave Becker and Officer Leslie Perez had a chance to meet 10-year-old Tyler Carach, aka The Donut Boy.

Tyler is a big fan of law enforcement and would like to be a K-9 officer when he grows up. In 2016 Tyler started a program called “I DONUT need a reason to thank a cop,” with a mission to thank every police officer in the United States by giving them a donut.

Tyler is from Florida, and so far he has visited 18 states and given out 28,000 donuts. At each of his visits Tyler also serves coffee and gives out thank-you cards.

Tyler’s 10th birthday was Nov. 5 and to celebrate Tyler organized a “Birthday with the Blue” road trip which involved visiting 10 states in 10 days. Last Friday it was Minnesota’s turn. Tyler was at Mall of America from 9 a.m. to noon handing out donuts to officers, including Lt. Becker and Officer Perez.

We would like to thank Tyler for all of his support and, of course, for the donuts!
