Mayor Tyra-Lukens welcomes attendees to the Realtor Forum

Yesterday morning, the City and the Eden Prairie School District hosted an informational forum for area realtors at the Eden Prairie Community Center.  The program consisted of: (1) an introduction by Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens, (2) a school district update from Superintendent Melissa Krull, and (3) a city update from Community Development Director Janet Jeremiah and myself.  We discussed our recent city survey results along with upcoming projects such as light-rail transit (LRT).  The morning program concluded with a bus tour led by Economic Development Director David Lindahl  highlighting several city development projects.

I think it was a win-win for our group and for the realtors.  The win for the realtors was that they were able to receive the needed continuing education credits (still pending) toward their real estate licenses at no cost while also receiving information which allows them to better market and sell real estate in our City.  The win for the City and the School District was the opportunity to speak with important community stakeholders about the factors that make Eden Prairie such a great place to live and work.

This project was a goal of the Mayor to better spread the message that our community is in a great postion to thrive in spite of the current economic conditions.  It also serves my desire for expanding community engagement.

I think it went well.  If others feel the same way we can do it again.
