Congrats to Communications!

Congratulations to the City’s Communications Division staff (L-R: Kari Knoll, Joyce Lorenz and Katie Beal) and the City for receiving three awards last week at the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators annual Northern Lights Awards ceremony.

We got an Award of Excellence, the highest level of achievement for government communications in the state of Minnesota, in the category of Promotional or Informational Brochures, 12 Pages or Less for the Protect Your Purse brochure. The judges said the Protect Your Purse Brochure demonstrated a clever graphic design (the brochure looked like an actual purse) and produced a large impact with minimal text. The Communications staff wanted to thank Officer Fred Bock and the Police Department for all their hard work in making this project a success!

In addition, the Communications Division received two Awards of Merit in the category of Visual Design – Logos/Illustrations/Graphics for the Eden Prairie Promise and International Festival logos. Judges complimented the Eden Prairie Promise Logo for its simplicity and smart design, and felt the International Festival Logo was “colorful and catchy to the eye.”

We’ve got a pretty good Communications staff on board right now. They provide valuable work and insight to their internal customers (i.e. – other city employees and departments). It’s nice to see their work get the positive recognition it deserves from other professionals in their field.
