I attended the Open House today for our Office of Housing and Human Services (OHHS). The open house was held at the OHHS office space, which is on the "boutique" (i.e. – basement) level of the Eden Prairie Center. Our office is right next door to the corporate offices for General Growth Corporation, the owners and managers of the mall.The Open House provided an opportunity for potential customers and institutional partners, such as area churches, to come in and meet our staff and learn about our programs. Our OHHS staff accomplishes a large percentage of its work plan each year working in partnerships with other government, non-profit organizations and the faith community.
The Open House was a chance for the City to introduce and reintroduce what we're doing with all of our current partners and to perhaps catch the eye of a new partner (or two) that we might work with in the future.
I had the chance to talk with OHHS Manager Molly Koiumaki and Human Services Supervisor Mary Keating about the Open House. Here's what they had to say:
