Columbine Road, Almost

This is the unfinished end of Columbine Road.  It is the north end.  The road rests uncomfortably at a dead end adjacent to the south parking lot of the Flagship Athletic Center.  I snapped this shot on a beautiful spring day.  There were dozens of walkers on the path that rings the Purgatory Creek Recreation Area just to the left of this view.

The new road, most of which is completed, will provide drivers a way to get from Prairie Center Drive to Anderson Lakes Parkway without using Flying Cloud Drive.  The new road will connect to Prairie Center Drive near Flagship and connect to Anderson Lakes Parkway just south of the Post Office.  It will take traffic off of Flying Cloud Drive and decrease the wait times at Flying Cloud Drive's intersections at Prairie Center Drive and Anderson Lakes Parkway.

The City is currently talking with Flagship Athletic Center's parent company to resolve the final right-of-way issues so that we can complete the new road perhaps later this year.   Once completed, I think drivers will notice the difference the new Columbine Road will make in their ability to get around Eden Prairie just a little easier.
